Music and Stories by Women Composers

Women have always made music, even when
history has been slow to notice.
Violinist Lucy Russell and pianist Sezi Seskir
trace that story from a song by the twelfth-century
trobairitz Beatriz de Dia to the Romantic
brilliance of Clara Schumann, with music by
Agnes Zimmermann, Ethel Barns, Lili Boulanger,
Cécile Chaminade, Amy Beach and
Grazyna Bacewicz along the way.
Between pieces, they will introduce the composers and tell the stories behind the music:
who they were, what they wrote, and why so many of their names deserve
to be better known.
Expect to be enchanted, transported, charmed and challenged.
